Blackberry ID on Q10 needs renewing - previous owner will provide password. Can I please get some help?

Hope you can help.

I bought a Q10 for my wife as she likes the keyboard function.

The guy I bought it from was/is genuine and provided me with the password to remove the existing Blackberry ID (his Email). I then changed the details to my wifes Email info and a new password.

The following day he asked for the new Blackberry ID and password so he could retreive his info (I hope !). I provided this as I believe him to be genuine and he has now changed the Blackberry ID to his Email account.

My question is how do we resolve this - I have the phone and can set up a new Blackberry ID on my PC but it isn't being accepted on the phone.

If you can help please can you tell us what we both need to do - the seller and myself. I'm sure he will give me the password but changing it on the phone may affect his end ?.

BBID can only be associated with one email account. Sounds like previous owner has changed it back, thus your inability to load your info on to the phone.

Previous owner needs to remove Q10 from his BlackBerry Protect and security wipe the Q10 using his BBID.

Once that is done you need to activate phone with a NEW BBid using your own email and a new password.

There shouldn't be any reason to provide previous owner with your BBID after purchase.

He should have removed the password on the phone, wiped it and also removed it from the BlackBerry Protect site under his BBID logon.

Then you could create a new BBID when you go through the setup on the phone.... unless you have your own previous BBID you want to use (not his ID with your info)

Thanks - i've texted him and he says he will do it. Will keep you posted.He's replied to say he's set his new Z10 up using his Blackberry ID and could I do the same for the Q10. Well thats what i've been trying to do all day.

If he provides me with his BB ID and password can I then do a Security wipe on the Q10 without it affecting any of his data ?. After that will I be able to create my own BB ID and get the phone to verify and accept it.

I've set up new Blackberry ID's and they get confirmed but when I try to verify them on the Q10 it does not accept them.

Hope the above is clear and thanks for your help.

Hope the above is clear and thanks for your help.That should do the trick. It will wipe Q10, not his Z10. Only do so after he's removed Q10 from BB PROTECT.

How does he do this at his end. Can you do a step by step process so I can tell him and me how to do it.

Just lead him to the protect.blackberry.com website.

He will then login with his BBID and password.

Once logged he will be able to remove your Q10 from the attached devices.

Settings> BlackBerry Protect> Anti-Theft> OFF;Log in to BlackBerry Protect> Manage Devices> remove the device from your BBID;Wipe the device (optional: use an autoloader);Sell the device

Really sorry for you OP. I hope you canget in touch with the dude and sort it out.Since in your case you bought the device, the last step to sell the device does not apply .

Thanks for all your help.

Q10 now registered to my wife and wiped clean.

Obviously in hindsight I should have asked the guy to do all this before buying the phone - likewise he should have done it as initially every bit of his info was available to me.

Thankfully we were both honest with each other !.
