Does shortening text message history save time auto-delete pictures and videos shared through text?
I need to free up some space on my iPhone 5s. I realized that most of my consumed space is coming from 4.4 GB of saved text messages and all the images/videos shared through these texts. I love being able to scroll through all of the pictures and videos (view the text message, click details), but I realize this is where most of the space is being consumed.
Here is my question: If I change my text message settings to save texts from "forever" to "1 year", will all images and videos associated with text messages be deleted as well?
I assume yes.. so second part of the question: is there a way to easily save these images or access them via a manual backup to computer?

I also assume that the attachments would be deleted. To easily save them go to the conversation in the messages app> tap details> hold your finger over a image or video and tap more> Select all the attachments you want to save> then tap save X attachments> Then they will save to your camera roll. I would then recommend importing your images to a computer and then deleting them off the phone. -AJ
Cute, but not necessary. This is a user to user support forum, and your post has to be viewed, then someone with an answer has to post. If you change the settings, then the message and associated content would be deleted.
As far as how to save photos, it is the same as you do other saves of content. Click on the picture, and then you should see the share button, the square with the arrow pointing up. From there, select Save Image, and the photo will be saved to your Camera Roll. From there, you can import your Camera Roll to your computer for safe keeping. If you want to sync the photos back to the iPhone for viewing, you can do that via iTunes.
