Hi I have a new Apple Watch - sport band. Is it possible to purchase bands separately that can be used with the watch?

Hi I received a new Apple Watch as a gift at Christmas - sport band, white, 42 mm. 7000 series. Since this is my first Apple Watch, I am wondering if I should check out all options at the store before opening the box. Is it possible to purchase bands separately that can be used with the watch? Thanks, in advance, for any advice, guidance, wisdom you can offer.

Hi Kate

Yes - any 42mm Apple Watch band will fit your Apple Watch.

Non-Sport bands have different lengths, so check your wrist circumference and refer to the Apple Watch Sizing Guide (which compares all Apple bands) before buying separate bands:

www.apple.com/shop/watch/si...

Trying them on at an Apple Retail Store is also a great option.

The Apple Watch Sport also has an anodized aluminum case, whereas non-Sport bands have different metals in their adapters and/or links (this does not affect compatibility, only appearance).

Thank you, Jonathan - where can I find additional information about the benefits of the sport watch versus the other options. How is the sport watch different/same as the others? Thanks, in advance, for your help.

You might want to take a look at this link which provides all the information about the watch. www.apple.com/watch/

Basically, the Sport version is brushed aluminum, and is somewhat cheaper. The Apple Watch is stainless steel, and is more expensive. Not sure if you would be interested, but then there is the Apple Watch Edition, if you have about $10,000 to spare.

You're welcome, Kate.

Sport models are designed to be as light as possible, using aluminium cases and aluminosilicate glass for the screen.

In addition to instead using heavier stainless steel for the case, Apple Watch uses sapphire crystal for the screen (a harder material).

Your best option may be to schedule an appointment to try on Apple Watch at an Apple Retail Store, to see and feel the differences for yourself:

Agreed! The most fun you will have in an afternoon. I enjoyed trying on several different style bands and watches, both sizes as well. The problem is that now I have one singled out that I want, but cannot get it yet. The most frustrating part.
