Losing wifi on all apple products

Hi

I have an issue that my apple products keep losing the wifi connection at home even though the signal is showing on the product.

It happens at random and is really annoying. It concerns 2 iphone 5S and 4 ipads. I can be on the internet and suddenly it says the server is not responding. Quite annoying whe wantign to stream etc

However, i can have any of my laptops switched on and they work perfectly so I am sure it is an apple problem. I thought it could be my router with my apple products so tested it at two other friends houses and the same thing happens. They are with different Internet providors.

I have recently updated them to 9.3.1 and i am suspecting this is the issue. I also have 2 old iphone 4 that are still on version 7 and they work all of the time so this tells me that something is wrong with version 9 upwards.

I have checked the internet and there does seem to be issues and i have tried all the workarounds but doing this everytime it happens is not what you expect when paying a lot of money for many products from Apple.

Does anyone have any 100% solution for this, other than moving to Samsung/Android products as that is the next obvious step.

Regards

Andy

Huh? What have you tried and what workarounds/solutions are recommended online outside of the Apple Forums?

I have experienced nothing like this and I work in a department that uses thousands of Apple devices every day in an educational institution. iDevices are not dependent on a PC or Mac online nearby to stay connected to the internet. If you're playing content from Plex/iTunes from that PC or Mac, then you may have a problem (offline computers don't respond)

Also, what are all the sites and streaming services that say the server is not responding?

What is the make and model of your wifi router? - Is the firmware up-to-date? (if it's not, update it first) Are you sure your internet connection is ok? - Please post your results from Speedtest.net and Pingtest.net in your next reply.

General suggestions for Wi-Fi issues, maybe one of them will help…. 1) Perform a Forced Restart: Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Allow device to restart.2) Reset Network Settings: Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings. Rejoin the Network again.3) Reboot Router/Modem: Unplug from power for 2 minutes and plug again. Update Router Firmware (check manufacturer’s support website for a newer FW). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (20 MHz recommended for the 2.4 band).4) Change to Google's DNS: Settings> Wi-Fi> Click on the Network, Delete all numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or alternatively 8.8.4.45) Disable device prioritization on the router if this feature is available. 6) Determine if other Wi-Fi devices on network are working well (other iOS devices, Macs, PCs).7) Try device at another Network, i.e., neighbors’, public coffee house, etc.8) Restore the Device (ask for additional for details if desired). support.apple.com/en-us/HT2...) Go to an Apple Store for hardware evaluation.

This seems a unlogical answer!

There are many threads about this issueif you only search, as it have. I have never said that i need a pc or mac nearby but when it is side by side and the pc works but the apple products dont it is obviously something wrong. Plus when i have tested this at other peoples houses too and the same thing happens to me that is good enough testing.

I have issues with any website or streaming service when this happens and yes my router is fully up to date..

Sometime i can use speedtes and it is fantastic but i cannot test this on the ipad when i cannot even get connected. However, i ahve tried it on my pc at the time when the ipad wont connect and it gives me almost my full capacity of 60/60.

Plus i have two old i iphone 4 that are still on version 7 that i have tested when the issue happens and they work absolutely fine on the internet yet the ipads/iphones 5s that are on 9.3.1 do not. This tells me that it is a version issue.

It does? How so? I'm following a methodical process to identify issues that could cause the problem you're seeing.I have the same iPhone 5S (9.3.1) phones on my network, they work just fine just by themselves or with my Mac and Servers online too.

There are many threads about this issue if you only search, as it have.

I don't have the time to chase ghosts, it saves us troubleshooting time if you present everything you've done rather than just saying "I tried everything" You're the first post I've ever seen where iDevices don't work without a PC/Mac active on the network.

Plus when i have tested this at other peoples houses too and the same thing happens to me that is good enough testing.Have you done any of the troubleshooting tests that ElCpu provided? If not, you really should do all of it before saying that test is good enough. In your next reply, go line by line in the troubleshooting list and note each thing you've done and what happened when you tried it.

Lastly, if we ask you to specifically do something, it's to help you identify a problem and eliminate variables that may be causing issues. Are you sure your internet connection is ok? - Please post your results from Speedtest.net and Pingtest.net in your next reply.

What is the make and model of your wifi router?

We're not here to mislead you, we don't have a crystal ball to see inside your network, so you have to be our hands and eyes to troubleshoot and identify the problems.

trust me i have done everything reccomended by all in this thread and on other sites of the many people who have the same problem.I see no reason to list this info as a yes should be suffiecient for people to believe

I have no idea why you keep repeating this statement ...' they work just fine just by themselves or with my Mac and Servers online too' OR 'You're the first post I've ever seen where iDevices don't work without a PC/Mac active on the network'

I have NEVER said this!

What i have said is that the pc/mac can be right at the side of the ipad/iphone when the issue happens and they continue to work fine but the iphones/ipad connection faulters!

This is not a network issue, unless it also exists at two other friends houses where i have taken my products and tested. Their ipads/iphones/samsung products work fine btut mine can faulter. They havent upgraded to 9.3.1 yet either so this only proves my theory.

I have already said i have done speedtest and it can show 60/60, do you need me to put a screen shot in......im not in this to lie. However my router is an inteno.

Once again this is not a network issue unless all my 6 apple products (not including the 2 iphone 4 that are stil on version 7, oh and they work fine) can suddenly affect my own and my frineds networks without affect non apple products or apple products not on 9.3.1.

Inteno is not a common brand in the USA, (Results say it's from Sweden)

But you have fiber to the home, right? If so, was this router provided by your ISP?If it was, I highly recommend talking to them about the issue that you're experiencing to get a replacement/upgraded device.

If not provided, is it dual band? If so, turn off the 2.4ghz band completely.

Run on 5Ghz only, do you experience the same issues?

Run netspot on one of your wireless laptops and watch the signal strength when the connection fails. Does it drop out? Is there a ton of interference from nearby AP's?

I asked for speedtest and pingtest results to see the overall quality of your internet connection. I need to verify the performance to rule out any potential upstream issues. (this is part of the methodical process, we need this information to help)

Have you checked configurations of the router to ensure that wireless clients aren't behind any time of day or other firewall restrictions?

When all devices fail all at the same time its usually an access point issue, DNS, or there's so much interference that nothing can connect. Are you in a flat/apartment, neighborhood or in a house surrounded by farmland?

When it all fails, can you login to the router or access local network resources from your iPhone? If you can't, it's probably a router issue.

Lastly, please note the time and duration of the failure

Is there a repeated pattern? Is it random?

Random - reset the thing, start over, and then get a new router if it happens againPattern - reset the thing and start over, talk to your ISP accordingly.

I live in Norway so yes that is correct. I havea router model I Inteno DG301B-R and I do have fiber at 60/60. I have spoken with them and Ihave just replaced the router yesterday and the same problem persists on my 6apple devices on 9.3.1. However, as per before my laptops work fine and the twoold iphone 4 still on version 7 are 100% ok If not provided, is it dual band? If so, turn off the 2.4ghz band completely.

I believe it is only 2.4ghz on it. Please remember that the laptops workfine and the two iphones on version 7

[*]I have run three tests on three differentspeed test sites and got about 60mpbs both up and down, which relates to my60/60 fiber service. In one instance it gave me slightly more than 60/60 bothways J

I have checked with nextgentel the company and they say all should beok

Remember it is only the apple ones that areon 9.3.1 that fail. The laptops and two iphones on version 7 are fine. I livein normal residential area with no known internet issues. I have also tested ata two friends’ houses and the same thing happens on the apple products on 9.3.1

Your situation is not common. I have 4 iOS devices, all on 9.3.1, and I can connect without issues in all places I have tried. I know your problems are real, no doubt in my mind - all I am trying to say is that while some may have them, the vast majority do not.

At this point all you can do is try unusual steps. Conceivably your updates might have gotten corrupted (server issues, isp issues, who knows).

I would try the following on one of the affected devices.

Disable any antivirus on your computer temporarily.

Do you have McAfee antivirus by any chance?

Then take one of the devices, back it up, and restore it as New following the instructions below. Do not restore the backup yet. Test to see if it connects first.
