Priv - SD Card Corrupted or UnSupported

hi (first time poster here)

My first Priv, I had a SanDisk 128GB Micro SDXC in it, it was fine, till after a few months, it stopped charging and lost all battery. I got it repaired.

Repaired Priv, still with 128GB card, Upgraded to Marshmallow, SD card continued to work, but then again the phone stopped charging and battery died. Sent it back.

Was given a brand new Priv, first thing i did was upgrade Marshmallow. Inserted SD card - didnt work! It comes up as either "Corrupted" or "Device does not support"

Was given option to Format, i tried it. Oddly, it started with the progress bar already at 20%, nothing happens for a minute, but then it closes and gives me this error message:

command '36 volume partition disk: 179.64 public' failed with 'null'

Iv installed MicrosoftexFAT for Blackberry. no luck.

Iv tried all sorts of formatting. no luck.

Iv used SDFormatter V4.0, GUI/Fat32Format, Windows Format. no luck.

Iv tried Fat32, ExFat, NTFS. no luck.

It worked in my Galaxy S4! (which isnt supposed to support more than 64G

Then i formatted it using the S4. Put it in the Priv. Still no luck.

I then took the 32GB card (working with no issues) out of my S4, put it in my Priv...........doesnt work!

So in my case, this isnt just an issue of cards being larger than 32GB! (which is often the case from what iv seen in forums so far)

I've exhausted all known options...........so..........HELP?

After backing up whatever you can from any other sd-cards, try each in the Priv. Backup in case the Priv takes out the data on the card. It could be a defective Priv.

There's also a new exfat driver. If you search for Blackberry Limited and scroll, it's by MS but shows up in that search.

There was some discussion of problems occasionally with Partition Tables in sd-cards if they get messed up. I'm not sure if that sd-formatter addresses that issue.

Good luck.

I'm wondering whether you're using the right charger.

If the phone is dying, it might be frying the phone, which can possibly screw up the SD card you put in

I hate to point fingers, but these days, to get 2 lemons in a row is rather rare. 99.9% of the time it is user error, especially since there has been very little issue with Privs dying

I was very paranoid and therefore only ever used the official charger that came with the phone. Also, as i mentioned above, i used another SD which was also working fine in my S4, but still the priv wouldnt let it work.

I dont see how this could be "user error" if the SD card works fine on my laptop and my S4.

Thanks for posting.

Im thinking it might be a defective Priv. Or maybe a Marshmallow issue. I got the brand new phone 4 days ago, and straight away i was having issues with the SD card.

Iv tried 2 different SD cards.

I also have installed the new exfat driver, but hasnt helped either.

I know nothing about partitions, but iv tried formatting the card using 3 different programs.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting. It just might be a defective Priv.

Here's some stuff on Partitions:

"Reporting in with the same error!

Priv completely bricked a 64gb card, and then Windows would only format it to 16mb.

To rescue the card, connect it to pc with another device, open disk management, delete both 16mb, and larger partition, then add new simple volume, follow wizard, NTFS, and card is saved. It may take some time to re-write."

(to get to disk management, right click MY COMPUTER (or whatever it might be called in your version of Windows. Select MANAGE. Look for Storage/disk management, find the sd-card. Make sure that you only work on the sd-card. Do NOT tamper with your c: or other hard disks).
