this has happened a bunch of times but recently it reboots because of sudden closing of apps by themselves. if an app is open for quite some time, it suddenly closes and then the phone goes off as well. restarts again. what would be the cause of this?

Delete some data you no longer need. You can store to Media card. Also, check your apps, remove those you don't use and restart
