Thinking of getting rid of my laptop

Thinking of getting rid of my laptop and using my iphone / ipad / apple TV 4 to access files on the PC now by getting a 2tb time capsule. will i be able to edit photos, view and edit spreadsheets, etc. on the TB with an ipad pro as if it is a hard drive? Assuming this is done on my home wifi network only. also, i have a large amount of movies and music in my itunes library, will i be able to access those without downloading all to the TB as well? Assuming this is done on my home wifi network only.

No , don't believe you can use a time capsule from iOS devices directly

The Apple Time Capsule is just a extenal hard drive for computers only and not for iDevces.

The only thing the Apple Time Capsule has is a built-in WiFi router for setting up a local WiFi network to use with your iDevices.

There is no direct procedures or apps to access this Time Capsule drives using iOS.

Sorry.

I recommend you get a large amount of storage on your ipad. External storage isn't as integrated as on a computer. You may run into copyright restrictions if you put the video's on an external device. Some apps are simplified versions of the computer one. Many apps are a lot easier to use on the ipad.

You can do want you want if you do not mind experimenting around and accepting some compromise.

You might want to consider buying a used iphone 4s which is capable of running the latest ios and see if you can do what you want. Get a sprint iphone 4s and sign up for 200 minutes of free talk time with freedompop.com

You could upload your files to a cloud storage server and then you'll be able to access all your files.

iOS does not support Time Capsule or Time Machine directly. You may create backups and store files from your iPad to your Mac. You may take files from a Time Capsule and place them on your Mac, and then move them to your iPad. You can't directly move files from your iPad to a Time Capsule or vice versa. However, there are wireless drives that offer the functionality that you seek. In particular, the SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive is an option. Seagate also produces wireless media drives for iOS devices. Said wireless drives do support streaming content from the drive to your iOS device.

Please note though that you don't need local drives for wireless or mass storage solutions when it comes to the iPad. With iCloud, Apple provides users with access to a mass storage solution that allows users to stream iTunes purchases without having to download them directly to a device. So if you want to watch your favorite movie in your collection without downloading it, or stream a great album you bought, you can do so automatically, because every iTunes purchase you make is kept in iCloud for your convenience. If you wish to store your photos, movie projects, spreadhseets, text documents, and other files, you can do so using iCloud Drive. All users with an iTunes account are given 5GB of iCloud storage for free, with up to 1,000 photos stored to your photostream without them counting against your iCloud storage. For a nominal $0.99 a month, you can upgrade your iCloud Drive to 50GB, and store even more of your important files and memories.

As for editing documents such as word files, spreadsheets, as well as editing videos and photos, such task can be done easily on an iPad. With Numbers by Apple, you can create beautiful spreadsheets with preconfigured formulas, or formulas of your own. With Pages by Apple, you can create and edit text documents that are compatible with Microsoft Word. There are a number of photo editing apps such as Adobe Photoshop Express which make photo editing simple and fun. In short, you are covered if you need your iPad to be a tool for productivity.
